Peacemaker Circles Teleconference

A Yearlong Virtual Event
Starting June, 2012

People from all walks of life, all cultural backgrounds, genders, and age groups are invited to launch their own Circle or enrich an existing Circle as part of the Peacemaker Circles Teleconference.

The Jean Houston Foundation is sponsoring this yearlong virtual event in collaboration with CirclesWork! to inspire 300+ Circles of Peacemakers to come into being, and connect monthly across a wide geographical area via TeleCircle.

This is the first Social Artistry program aimed to help you launch sustainable face-to-face Circles of Peacemakers in your neighborhood, or to incorporate the valuable skills for creating and maintaining circles in whatever your work in the world may be.

Why participate?
  • Help grow the Social Artistry network, and support social artists in their local Trim Tabs and projects.
  • Stay in contact with the Social Artistry Teaching Learning Community.
  • Learn how our democracy was modeled on the Iroquois Confederacy, founded by the Great Peacemaker as a peaceful society among once-warring peoples.
  • Listen to eminent Peacemakers and pose your questions.
  • Learn how to start your own Circle - and experience a virtual circle on the conference calls.
  • Strengthen your role as a Peacemaker.
  • Listen to archived call recordings at CirclesWork.net  at Start Your Circle page, and access user-friendly resources and Tools for Cooperative Work for a sustainable Circle.
  • Join this work to co-create a peaceful democratic society.

The  Peacemaker Circles Teleconference will follow the Manual for the Peacemaker, the amazing story of the Great Peacemaker, who envisioned and founded the first democracy in North America. In the book, Dr. Jean Houston and Margaret Rubin offer tips and guidelines to support you in building a conscious, sustainable circle and co-create a culture of peace.

Drawing on the work of Dr. Jean Houston and of other social artists, Peacemaker Circles will ignite synergy and mutual support for peacemaking.  Whether your work is in education, the health system, with youth, in the arts, or other, you are a peacemaker and your circle is co-creating the peaceful world that works for all living things.

On the monthly teleconference calls, hear eminent peacemakers like Joanna Macy (Dec), Jean Shinoda Bolen (Jan’13), Monica Sharma (May), Jean Houston (June), Starhawk, Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim, and more.

PARTICIPANTS SAY: “The Social Artistry™ program taught me profound ways of taking these learnings and individual capacities and putting them to real use in the world. I find that my ‘offer’ to the world has clarified and grown, which has had a wonderful impact upon my individual clients and the groups I lead. Social Artistry™ training is a fantastic boot camp for anyone wanting to be an active participant in the Possible Society!”
–Susan Belchamber, Lifespan Development, Neurotherapist, Ontological Coach, Group Facilitator

“The Social Artistry™ training provided me with a profoundly rich environment in which to deepen connections between my personal stories and the stories of a more collective history. With personal vision for community transformation, I discover ways to weave the threads with others into a journey for healing and transformation.”
–Elizabeth Hallett , Lay Chaplain, Health Care Administration
