Businesses for Systemic Change

The Jean Houston Foundation works to foster relationships with organizations that have mission, vision and values reflecting social responsibility. We work with those who are committed to responsible business practices that foster not only the health and growth of the institution, but also individuals and our planet and believe in taking an active role in creating a world that works for everyone.

WHAT MAKES SOCIAL ARTISTRY™ UNIQUE IN ITS APPLICATION TO BUSINESS?
Social Artistry™ takes a holistic and systemic approach to change, working inside out: it assists individuals in assessing and accessing more of their personal potential, and aligns that potential with goals and tools for creating sustainable change within the organization. It is about changing the change agent herself/himself, and helping that change agent apply the newly developed capacities to specific initiatives.

Organizations are challenged to reinvent themselves constantly in our rapidly changing economic market, and the Social Artistry™ approach addresses that complexity. The Social Artistry™ training approach is not a quick-fix approach but rather is a sustainable one that considers stakeholder and environmental needs for future generations.

Rather than trying to impose solutions devised by outside experts, Social Artistry™ focuses on helping people discover and amplify their capacities and their successes that already exist. Consultation options range from introductory sessions to help organizations determine if Social Artistry™ is an appropriate change strategy to employ on particular leadership issues, to full support for a Social Artistry™ leadership training or change initiative.

WHAT RESULTS CAN YOU EXPECT FROM IMPLEMENTING SOCIAL ARTISTRY™ TRAINING INITIATIVES?

  • Development of work teams that understand and practice skills for maximizing results through the creative friction that occurs when diverse viewpoints and individual agendas are brought together in a complex, interdependent work environment
  • Creation of alignment between individual passion and purpose and specific, organizational trim-tab initiatives, harnessing individual potential and high levels of motivation
  • Development of work teams that are deeply empowered as change agents and have developed shared experience and skill in adapting to the complexities of work in a global arena

SOCIAL ARTISTS WORKING WITH THE SOCIAL ARTISTRY™ APPROACH IN BUSINESS SAY:
As a professional consultant in the area of leadership development, I’ve worked with over a dozen different leadership training programs. While many of these have had worthwhile, organizational impact, it is only in Social Artistry™ training programs that I have observed truly sustainable and systemic change occurring. I attribute the success of this body of teaching to its effectiveness in helping individuals and organizations deal with root issues that are undermining their effectiveness (restrainers of change) while concurrently developing vision and tools that create a positive future (drivers of change).

"The Social Artistry™ approach works with growing the individual passion and genius of individuals, while creating the structures for harnessing that genius in the context of complex, interdependent goals and strategic objectives. It is a curriculum that awakens potential and creativity that empowers commitment, responsibility and roles. This results in organizational synergy and alignment around goals. Any organization that is committed to creating a healthy future for itself, its employees and our planet, should consider the Social Artistry™ program as a foundational piece of training for leadership at all levels."
–Tricia Webster, Leadership Development Consultant, New Genesis Consulting

"In today’s fast-paced world‚ no matter how successful we might be, we sometimes may feel 'at sea.' Like sailors navigating stormy waters‚ individuals‚ groups‚ and organizations need some means to orient themselves—the equivalent of the north star‚ a compass. The Social Artistry™ Leadership Training allows people to tap into their 'true North' through the exquisite use of myth, story and transformational processes that bring forth the unique gifts and  'medicine' each of us carries inside, nurture it consistently and manifest it in the world gracefully and powerfully."
–Theodosia Southern, Consultant and Coach, Founder and Managing Principal of the Center for Executive Leadership.

MICHAEL KRAJOVIC, SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR AND PRESIDENT/CEO OF FAY-PENN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL, SAYS: "Businesses have the power to make the changes needed to sustain our future. That power does not lie outside our companies, but exists right inside our organizations, whenever there are committed individuals gathered together."
